My family loves this simple strawberry smoothie. We’ve made it so many times that it’s become our house smoothie recipe!
This is the only strawberry smoothie recipe you’ll need. Quick, easy, and delicious!
Key Ingredients
- Strawberries: I love adding a heaping cup of whole strawberries and particularly enjoy this smoothie when I use frozen strawberries. Fresh work fine, but frozen strawberries make our smoothie extra creamy.
- Banana: I use one banana in this strawberry smoothie. I love how creamy the banana makes our smoothie, but you can substitute it for other fruit. Just like the strawberries, I love using frozen banana in smoothies (it makes them so creamy).
- Half an orange: When I have oranges in the house, I love adding them to my morning smoothie. It adds extra vitamin C and tropical flavor.
- Vanilla extract: I love adding a tiny bit of vanilla to my strawberry smoothies, and I highly recommend it if you have never tried it!
- Milk (dairy or non-dairy): I like adding some liquid to the blender to help the ingredients blend. For a smoothie without milk, use water. It still tastes amazing. For more creaminess, use milk (dairy or non-dairy both work).
How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie
To make a strawberry smoothie, I add frozen strawberries, a banana, half an orange, a little vanilla extract, and a splash of milk to a blender and blend until smooth. If you want a thicker smoothie, blend in a few ice cubes for an icy, slightly thicker smoothie.
Remember that for the creamiest smoothie, use frozen strawberries and frozen banana. You can also add other ingredients to make this your own. A few of my favorite additions are:
- Almond butter, cashew butter, or peanut butter (I use 1 to 2 tablespoons)
- Flaxseed meal, chia seeds, or hemp seeds (I use 1 to 3 teaspoons)
- Cocoa powder or cocoa nibs (1 to 2 teaspoons)

Adam and Joanne's Tips
- How to freeze: To save the smoothie for later, pour each serving into a food-safe resealable plastic bag or container and freeze. Then, about an hour before needing the smoothie, take it out from the freezer.

I didn’t realise how nutritious strawberries actually are until I started searching for recipes this morning. This strawberry smoothie is utterly delicious….I stuck everything you recommended in, except I made it with goat milk! I was going to drink half then freeze the rest for later….didn’t happen!🤣 Also I don’t have any bloating…I have huge problems with so much food, I have to be careful. This smoothie was amazing definitely 5 stars
Hi Ella, We are thrilled that you enjoyed it so much!
I usually don’t enjoy strawberry smoothie much but have it one last try with this recipe and it was perfect for me! Thank you!
We are so happy you enjoyed your smoothie. Thank you so much for the kind review 🙂
I can’t wait to try these smoothies. Thank you so much
A very nice smoothie, thanks for the recipe. I used almond milk.
How could I make this strawberry smoothie without bananas, and still keep it really nutritious? Love your idea of making smoothie packs for the freezer, but since I’m allergic to bananas, ideas for healthy smoothies are very scarce! Thanks!
Hi Lynne, You can leave the banana out or use another creamy fruit. Mangoes blend into a really nice creamy consistency so that’s my favorite alternative. Otherwise, you could substutute with a handful of nut (like cashews) or use some nut butter to add a little extra creaminess to the smoothie.
your smoothie is the best I only add fruit and then some protien
This looks fab esp when I’ve been reading how underrated strawberries are for nutrition! I usually don’t add dairy to a smoothie but I wonder if almond milk would be a good companion to this?
Hi Patti, Almond milk is an excellent option!
