Rosemary Gin Fizz

This rosemary gin fizz cocktail is a delicious twist on a classic gin fizz. My simple rosemary syrup infuses the cocktail with fresh rosemary, making this gin cocktail refreshing and so delicious!

Rosemary Gin Fizz Cocktail

One of my favorite classic cocktails is a gin fizz, so I love this variation made with fresh rosemary. Our rosemary gin fizz cocktail is incredibly refreshing, light, and perfect for warmer weather.

Key Ingredients

  • Gin: I recommend using a mid-to-high shelf gin. London dry gin (like Beefeater) has a clean flavor, while Plymouth gin is more aromatic. Choose one that suits your taste.
  • Lemon: Freshly squeezed lemon juice is key for a bright, refreshing taste. Bottled lemon juice will work in a pinch if you don’t have fresh lemons.
  • Club Soda: I love club soda in cocktails because it adds a bit of salt, enhancing the flavors of the other ingredients. You can use sparkling water or seltzer water, but they often don’t have the same salt or mineral content as club soda.
  • Simple Syrup: I make a rosemary simple syrup to infuse this gin cocktail with fresh rosemary. It’s super easy. I make my basic recipe for simple syrup and then add a few sprigs of fresh rosemary. As the syrup cools, the oils from the fresh rosemary release and infuse it.

For my rosemary gin fizz, we use homemade rosemary simple syrup to put an herbal spin on the classic gin fizz cocktail. You can substitute other herbs for the rosemary. Think mint or basil!

Makes 1 drink

You Will Need

2 ounces (4 tablespoons) gin

1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) fresh lemon juice

1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) rosemary simple syrup, recipe below

3 ounces (6 tablespoons) club soda

Lemon slice, optional

1 rosemary sprig, optional

Rosemary Simple Syrup

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

2 sprigs fresh rosemary

Directions

    1Make rosemary simple syrup. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook, constantly stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove the pan from the heat, add the rosemary, and let steep for 1 hour. Discard the rosemary sprig. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

    2Shake gin, lemon juice, and rosemary simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Strain into a glass filled with ice. Add club soda and garnish with a lemon slice and sprig of fresh rosemary.

  • Gin fizz mocktail: For an alcohol-free version, leave out the gin and add more club soda.
  • Pitcher-friendly recipe: For multiple servings, stir gin, lemon juice, and rosemary simple syrup in a pitcher. Refrigerate. When ready to serve, divide the mixture between glasses filled with ice, add club soda, and garnish with lemon slices and rosemary sprigs.

    I have made this recipe twice now, once for a cocktail party, and last night for a dinner party. Rave reviews all around both times. The second time I made it, I made a small modification which I am going to do from now on. I left the rosemary to steep all day in the simple syrup and added long curls of lemon zest, from one lemon, to steep as well. It was really nice. I love your recipe and it is the perfect cocktail for an apperitif. Thank you!

    I tried a rosemary gin fizz the other day. The good thing is that the gin has herbal notes which are brought out by the addition of a little fresh herb!
